A Realistic Princess – Moana

This is a movie review for another Movie that covers a new Disney Princess – Moana.

I’ll give you first a bit plot of what the movie is all about, don’t worry no spoiler here.

Moana Waialiki is a sea voyaging enthusiast and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators. When her island’s fishermen can’t catch any fish and the crops fail, she learns that the demigod Maui caused the blight by stealing the heart of the goddess, Te Whiti. The only way to heal the island is to persuade Maui to return Te Whiti’s heart, so Moana sets off on an epic journey across the Pacific. Along the voyage they battle the treacherous ocean and all which it hides, all the while learning what the power love between friends can accomplish. The film is based on stories from Polynesian mythology.

The plot is well-written. Well what do you expect? It’s a disney movie, its already given that the story is good. I, personally liked the video not just because of the story but also the attack of Disney – the musical way!

Here are some of the track played in Moana:

How far I’ll go have different versions and all are very beautiful. Here is the link to the song covers:

But, aside from the inspirational songs that the movie offered, what I liked the most is..

*drum rolls*

MOANA, herself.

I love how Disney made a Princess that do not have a white skin. Pocahontas, and Tiana are the first two disney princess that is dark. What made Moana a little different is that, she is small- not as tall as the others. Moana also have a small nose (Pango-in Filipino) and she is a little chubby, not as sexy as Barbie and not as perfect as the body of other princess.

She (Moana) is somehow the closest Princess to look real, indeed a realistic princess.

Another factor I like about this movie, is the chicken. One of the characters that I think the most important in the story (aside from Moana and the Demi-God).
