Drama Review: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

Scarlet Heart Ryeo, a period drama based on a Chinese novel, revolves around the story of a 21st century woman named Go Ha Jin. Sit back and relax as I tell you more about this drama.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo is one of the most anticipated K-Dramas of 2016. It follows the journey of a 21st century woman, who after a total eclipse, transported back in time to Goryeo Dynasty. And did I mention how her grand entrance was? Well, she just woke up in the middle of a bath house surrounded with dazzling abs of dazzling princes. She apparently time jumps into the body of Lady Hae Soo who conveniently looks like her.

To be blunt, this K-Drama is a hype. Once you start watching it, there’s no turning back. That is why I gypped my drama cardinal rule– no to K-Dramas that will surely have a cryable (new word) ending. I actually have a thing about historical dramas. It pains to say it, but they seldomly  had a happy ending (which is.. sad. hahaha).  And I’m expecting the worse since the start.

But, alas! I thought I am ready, or am at least less expectant for the story, but how this K-Drama has its amazing twists! Scarlet Heart Ryeo has an amazing set of actors which portrayed their roles amazingly (fav word: amazing). It even feels real, I still have to remind meself that it’s a TV show, because I feel so immersed. Thus, if you’ll be watching this, brace yourself with a lot of emotions. You may find them cute at some part, but you’ll find them pretty cute to kill at some point.

In summary, this K-Drama series is a definite watch. You’ll definitely love its actors who play their roles magnificently ’til the end. And their cinematography, by the way! Oh, how I love their cinematography and editing. This series also has an amazing set of soundtracks, some are even sang by the actors themselves. You’ll surely be hooked from beginning ’til the end.
